The Luna and Laurel Story

Not a brand built in a boardroom.
Built with intention. Refined with love.

For years, I put my trust in products that promised to help and only made things worse. I was not looking to start a skincare brand. I was just looking for something that actually worked.

Sensitive skin that fought back for years.

Living with sensitivity and mild rosacea is not just a cosmetic inconvenience. It is waking up and wondering what your skin will decide to do that day. It is reading ingredient lists with hope, trying yet another cleanser or moisturizer from a shelf lined with beautifully packaged promises, and being let down again. Some products did nothing. Others made things visibly worse, bringing more redness, more irritation, and more frustration.

For our founder, this cycle went on for years. Dermatologist visits, product rotations, gentle formulas, sensitive skin lines. She tried them all. Some brought temporary relief. None brought real change. What she did not yet know was that the very ingredients designed to soothe were often the source of the problem. Synthetic preservatives, artificial fragrances, emulsifiers, fillers. The modern skincare industry had drifted far from anything her skin actually recognized.

The answer was not in a laboratory. It was in something far older: the same nourishing fats our ancestors relied on long before synthetic chemistry existed.

The discovery that changed everything.

It started with research born of pure desperation. She began reading about ancestral skincare practices, exploring the ways people cared for their skin before petroleum-based moisturizers and synthetic serums existed. That research led her to tallow: rendered animal fat that has been used for centuries as a skin treatment, prized for its remarkable compatibility with human skin.

Bison tallow in particular stood out. Unlike conventional skincare ingredients, tallow shares a fatty acid profile remarkably close to that of human sebum, the skin's own natural oil. This means it absorbs deeply, works with your biology rather than sitting on the surface, and does not trigger the same inflammatory responses that so many synthetic alternatives do. For someone with reactive, sensitive, rosacea-prone skin, this was not just interesting. It was a turning point.

She started small. Her kitchen became a lab. She sourced grass-fed, pasture-raised bison tallow and began experimenting, combining it with organic botanicals, pure essential oils, and carefully chosen natural extracts. Free from synthetic preservatives, artificial fragrance, and unnecessary fillers, every ingredient was chosen specifically for the benefit it brings to skin.

The results were unlike anything she had experienced before. Her skin calmed. The redness softened. For the first time in years, her skin felt like it was being fed rather than managed. She kept refining the formulas, testing them, adjusting them, sharing them with friends and family who came back asking for more.

From her kitchen to yours.

Luna and Laurel was never meant to be a business. It was a solution to a personal problem that turned out to be shared by far more people than she expected. Friends with eczema. Partners with dry, cracked skin. People tired of the carousel of products that cost a lot and delivered little.

Word spread. Requests grew. And so a brand was born, not from a marketing strategy, but from a genuine belief that people deserve better than what most of the industry is offering. That healthy, glowing skin should not require a laboratory full of ingredients you cannot pronounce. That sometimes the most powerful answer is also the most ancient one.

Today every Luna and Laurel product is still handcrafted in small batches. Still made with grass-fed, pasture-raised bison tallow as its foundation. Still built around the same philosophy: give your skin what it actually recognizes, and it will do the rest.

Ethically Sourced, Always

Every batch begins with grass-fed, pasture-raised bison tallow. We care deeply about how our ingredients are sourced and hold ourselves to a standard we would be proud to explain to any customer.

Small Batches, Real Care

We do not mass-produce. Every product is made in small batches so we can maintain the quality, freshness, and intention that make the difference between something that works and something that just fills a bottle.

Nothing That Does Not Belong

No synthetic preservatives. No artificial fragrance. No petroleum derivatives. If an ingredient does not have a clear, beneficial purpose for your skin, it is not in our products.

Sustainable by Choice

We believe caring for your skin and caring for the planet are not opposing values. Our commitment to eco-friendly practices runs through every aspect of how we operate, from sourcing to packaging.

We started this because we believe everyone deserves to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. Not just people with picture-perfect complexions. Everyone, including those of us who have spent years fighting for it.

We are glad you found us. We think your skin will be too.
